Should churches pay taxes?
Yes, churches should pay taxes! Big church has a whole racket going on. In this day and age it is absolutely ridiculous that they don’t pay taxes.
Either everybody pays taxes or they don’t. If certain organizations don’t pay taxes, the voters should get to decide who they are. After all, less people paying taxes will directly influence the amount of taxes everyone else has to pay (or it would, if the spread were more balanced but don’t get me started on that). Basically, it’s my investment and I should have some say in the investments we make as a people, in our country’s future.
You know who should get a tax break? Teachers, practicing scientists, doctors (with the understanding, they will be charging us less, healthcare is another racket in this country).
Same sex marriage, why is this still up for debate?
Ironically, the big broad answer to that is, the church.
The judgments I have made on religious organizations are based on facts as I have observed them, I realize church organizations do great things for people too, I just think they should have to apply for their tax exemption for the trip to build a well in Africa or whatever.
What do you think?
